16 Days Of Action Event

16days

The 16 Days Campaign Opposing Violence against Women is an important opportunity to raise awareness and call for changes at an international, national and local level to make women and children safe from abuse.

We will be holding an event on Wednesday the 10th of December at 10am-11am to support and raise awareness and help stop domestic violence against women and children

One in Five Women Campaign

Women’s Aid annual ‘One in Five Women‘ 16 Days Campaign shows solidarity with women affected by domestic violence. During this time over 130 groups are visible in the communities to show that crimes against women and children are not acceptable.

We are delighted to show our support to stop violence against women by organising this local event

Fundraising

Over the years, Doras Bui has been very successful in securing funds from Government Departments, statutory agencies and from businesses and private individuals for its work with disadvantaged one parent families.

However, since 2006 we have experienced a severe cut in statutory funding across all programmes while the demand for our services continues to grow particularly in light of the economic crisis.

Against this background, the need for donations from private companies and individuals is more urgent than ever.

We have recently set up a fundraising committee and Doras Bui staff and  participants have got involved in fundraising events such as bag backing in our local shopping centre to try raise much needed funds for the centre

We are looking for volunteers or ideas and our having a meeting on Thursday the 13th of November at 12pm if anyone would be interested in coming along.

Donations ‘in kind’ as well as money are most welcome.
If you would like to donate, please contact the Director on 01 8484811.

Community Support 1990-2013

Outdoor Play AreaIt has been our experience that local businesses are very supportive of community organisations. It is often a question of knowing how to make the right approach and to be specific about what we want.

Way back in 1990 when we announced the plans to build own our premises in addition to financial donations we have also received items such as electrical appliances, office furniture, plants for our garden. Since then we have received toys and equipment for our Crèche.

The latest gift we received was from Aramark a multinational company based in our catchment. Their staff from across Ireland spent a day transforming our Crèche’s outdoor play area and refurbished all the internal areas. It was a great example of the practical application of corporate social responsibility.
